Broll in the Rest of Africa
Mauritius is a country that is fast gaining popularity. Ranked 17th in the world – and first in Africa – in the World Bank´s Doing Business 2010 report, this Indian Ocean island has enjoyed a growth rate in excess of 6% over the past three decades. It boasts an average annual household income of R90 000 and a healthy incoming tourism industry.
The Mall of Mauritius is an exciting new 32 000m2 retail centre, a component of the larger mixed-use Bagatelle Precinct development located between the capital Port Louis and the international airport. Scheduled to open in September 2011, this will be the country´s first regional shopping centre. Leasing for the mall is ahead of schedule and well-known brands such as Pick´n´Pay, Dis-Chem, Ocean Basket, Mugg & Bean and the Platinum Group are among the committed tenants.
The opening of the 19 000m2 Mlimani City Mall represented a quantum leap in Dar es Salaam´s retail offering. It was the first fully enclosed centre of its kind in Tanzania.
Broll was responsible for the retail letting of the mall and South African brand leaders Shoprite and Game signed up as the key anchor tenants.
IN FOCUS: Facilities Management
It´s not only South African enterprises that are looking to establish operations on the continent; multinationals like the Nokia Siemens Network are also growing their African presence.
Many of these corporations entrust their property needs to CBRE, and when it comes to Africa, Broll is the natural partner. Broll is responsible for the facilities management of Nokia Siemens Network buildings in 22 African countries.
